TI to Acquire National Semiconductor

Texas Instruments is set to acquire National Semiconductor in a $6.5 billion cash deal that will unite 42,000 analog products for any electrical system, and over 2,500 sales staff, under one umbrella.  TI promises a revamped online system to navigate these products as well as an increase in manufacturing growth, an industry first 300mm analog capability.  The plan to not transition part numbers, eliminate parts, and keep National’s fabrications will make the transition only that much smoother.
